A rare George III Provincial silver nutmeg grater, maker's mark only of Richard Richardson (II), (Ridgway mark type 8), Chester, circa 1765, of telescope form, tapering cylindrical with pull-off cap, central detachable section to hold nutmeg and long bottom tubular section containing a mounted steel tubular rasp, engraved with crest coronet to cap (an arm embowed, charged with two rosettes and holding aloft a scimitar, rising from a naval coronet) and initials "SR" to central section, marked clearly inside cap and again repeated on base but in this instance very worn, 11 cm. long, wt. 40 gm.
Good overall condition, small shallow bruise to side of lower section
