A baluster vase with a narrow neck and a flared opening made of enameled porcelain in the famille rose style, China, 20th centuryThe body is decorated with a legendary scene from the Roman of the Three Kingdoms: the encounter between Cao Cao fleeing to the Huayang Valley with his defeated army at the battle of the "red cliffs" and Guan Yu standing guard. In the episode, the latter let his former enemy pass in recognition of the benevolence he had shown in the past. A stylized frieze of lotus petals adorns the bottom of the body. The neck is flanked by two molded and enameled coral handles, and decorated with a frieze of ruyi heads in the upper part.
