Ivory netsuke representing Gama Sennin, Japan, 18th century (gama: toad) holds a piece of his garment with his right hand while with his left he holds his three-legged toad on his head. At the back, in his back, two himotoshi allow the passage of the cord of the inro. The eyes are inlaid with brown horn. It is the Taoist sennin of Chinese origin How Sien-song (in Japanese Kôsensei) who lived, it seems, in the mountains in company of a huge toad or a three-legged frog (cf. Koji Hôten).
