Netsuke-okimono in corozo nut representing a sparrow, Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912 )With its wings open, it observes a frog hidden under a leaf carved in a caramel-colored insert, forming a compact almost spherical whole. The eyes of the bird and the frog are inlaid with brown horn. Two himotoshi underneath are encircled by mother of pearl and green tinted ivory. It is engraved with a seal in a red lacquer plate.
