Square-shaped huali jingjia mirror holder, openwork and carved, China, 17th - 18th centuryThe sliding mirror holder, supported when open by a rectangular tilting and retractable frame, shows on the front six openwork panels, two carved with prunus branches in blossom, two with a rabbit near a pierced rock and a lingzhi mushroom, two with a coiled dragon. In the center, a central poly-lobed panel where the mirror is leaning on a small base adjustable in height. When closed flat, the mirror stand fits perfectly into a square frame with metal corner mounts and resting on four feet. 36.5 x 36.5 cm
