Set of three prints by Yoshitoshi and a triptych by Kuniyoshi, Japan, 19th century1-
From the series "Mirror of the Famous Generals of Japan" / Dai Nipon meisho kagami - 大日本名将鑑 and made between 1876 and 1882. Format ôban tate e.
Taira no Koremochi cutting a demon (1879).
Signed ôju Yoshitoshi hitsu. Taiso seal.
Publisher: Kumagai (1-11), Funazu Chujiro.
Engravers: Hori Mina, Horiko Ota Hidekatsu.

2- From the series "Twenty-four Achievements in Imperial Japan" - Kōkoku nijūshikō - 皇國 二十四 功 and produced between 1881 and 1887. Format ôban tate e.
Haruhira finds her father cruelly imprisoned by the Chinese - Hitsu (no) Saishō Haruhira.

Minamoto no Yorimitsu (on the right) is lying sick in his bed. Two of his bodyguards, Watanabe no Tsuna and Sakata no Kintoki, are playing go (center), while Urabe no Suetake (right) and Usui no Tadamitsu (left) watch the procession of spirits (yokai) in the background.
