The series is normally divided into three parts: 33 prints for the western provinces, 33 prints for the eastern provinces and 34 prints for the central provinces. Here, the album includes the 34 central and 33 western provinces (the 33 eastern provinces are missing). Each print is decorated with a scene with characters, illustrated with text and signed Kunisada or Toyokuni while in the upper part of the print is a landscape signed Hiroshige, inserted in a trompe l'oeil frame.
