Pair of hongmu cabinets composed of three parts, China, late 19th century - early 20th centuryThe upper part consists of three tiers of three open boxes embellished with carved and openwork borders of floral and scroll motifs, the lateral sides consist of three openwork panels of scroll decoration, two with a central flower. The lower part opens with two doors carved in panels of leaves, buttons and peony flowers, the interior shows a shelf and two drawers. All the uprights, doors and shelves of the cabinets are bordered with the same frieze of flowers and foliage. The cabinets each rest on a rectangular base with four short feet carved with a scroll.
