A good George III silver oval cream jug by Peter, Ann & William Bateman, London, 1804, with ribbed rim, engraved frieze of leaves and flowers over a reeded band with small navette-shaped panels with leaf ends, front with wavy-edged oval cartouche initialled "MADSx", 13 cm. high, wt. 165 gm.
A good clean jug with crisp engraving and good marks but the makers must have used a worn punch as the three "B"s are clear but the left hand side of punch is worn so that the "P, A, W" are not visible.
