The exterior is decorated with one iron-red and one green dragon each chasing a faming pearl amongst scrolling fowers, separated by downward-swooping phoenixes, all below a band of bajixiang and ruyi heads to the rim. There is an iron-red dragon amongst green fames in the interior.

A pair of bowls with this design was included in the Hong Kong O.C.S. Exhibition of Ch’ing Polychrome Porcelain, 1979, no. 32, and a single bowl is illustrated in the The Tsui Museum of Art: Chinese Ceramics IV; Qing Dynasty, Hong Kong, 1995, no. 96.
