The jade plaque on the ruyi-head is carved with a caparisoned elephant carrying a vase, the central jade plaque is carved with a double gourd holding millet sprays and enclosing the characters, 'da ji', meaning 'big fortune', and the lower jade plaque is carved with a qilin and a dharmachakra wheel. The wood is decorated a floral mother-of-pearl inlaid design.
Condition: the jades appear to be in overall good condition with minor nicks to the extremities and natural flaws to the stone; the wood sceptre with cracks, chips and losses to the frame by the lower jade; the upper shaft has been repaired, the head possibly restuck; expected losses to the mother-of-pearl inlay.
