The ewer is fashioned with a slender strap handle decorated with flower sprays and bees. The neck is finely decorated with stylised upright leafy tulip sprays above a petal band. The body is decorated with circular panels enclosing mountainous landscape scenes, interspersed with further bold floral sprays, all above a further petal band and a band of European-style mask heads.
Catalogue notes: a pair of silver-mounted ewers similar to the current lot but with figural medallions were sold at Christie's Paris, 27 September 2012, Collection of Helen Rochas, lot 16.
Condition: restoration to the top of the handle, areas touched up including to the spout and one side of the rim.
