The impressive vase is finely decorated with four narrative panels depicting a narrative scene, all divided by a vertical band of trailing morning glory vines, all above a cracked-ice band with floral medallions. The bottom half of the vase is decorated with pendant shaped leaves enclosing a floral design separated by v-shaped borders. The neck is decorated with a petal-shaped floral panel flanked by two leaf-shaped panels, separated by further v-shaped borders.
Catalogue notes: An almost identical but slightly larger massive blue and white vase (with an associated cover), was sold at Christie's New York, 26 January 2015, lot 80. A soldier vase and cover also with narrative scenes and a similar morning glory band with provenance dating back to Augustus the Strong (1670-1733) was sold at Bonhams London, 12 May 2011, lot 317.
Condition: appears to be in overall good condition, with minor surface wear.
