拍品描述 翻译
Late 3rd-1st millennium B.C. A mixed group of ten bronze seal matrices of various shapes and designs, each accompanied by a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state: (V-727) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 24 x 23 x 10.5mm. This is roughly round with notched edges. The face is flat and the design is engraved into it. The back is convex and like a rosette with 'petals' marked, and a suspension loop in the middle. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The design appears to show a curling snake. The edge is damaged at one point, otherwise the piece is in fair condition, with some incrustation on the surface.'; (C-11) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 27 x 26 x 18mm. This is round and open-work, with a big loop handle on the back. The design consists of an inner circle connected to an outer circle by eight 'spokes'. This comes from west central Asia, and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is some incrustation which could be removed, but it is in very good condition. The design was made first by created compartments, which were then opened up.'; (T-667) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 24 x 24 x 22m. This has a round flat face and flat back on which is mounted a stalk handle ending in a pierced loop, now worn. The design on the face consists of raised lines: a central square, from each corner of which a spiral branches out, and the spaces left are filled with four V-shapes based on the outer rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. The handle is worn and corroded, which could be stopped, and the rim of the face is also worn, but generally the piece is in fair condition.'; (T-834) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 23 x 23 x 13mm. This bears the shape of the design, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted V-shape. The design, which is compartmented, consists of a six-pointed star with circle in the middle. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is some pressed earth and incrustation on the surface, which could be removed, but the piece is in good condition.'; (T-850) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 24 x 20 x 23mm. This is roughly heart-shaped, with flat face and convex back in the middle of which is a short stalk handle with oval loop on top. The design, which is done in raised lines, consists of a central motif: a lower circle with open end, a straight line rising from the circle and two scallops joining at its tip; three short strokes from the edge serve as fillers. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. it is in very good condition.'; (T-847) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 22 x 21.5 x 9mm. This is round, with flat face and slightly convex back, on which is mounted a stalk handle, now mostly missing. The design is done in raised lines within an outer rim, and consists of two antithetically placed spirals and two crescents also placed opposite each other. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. It is covered with incrustation, which could be removed, but the metal beneath appears to be in good condition.'; (V-946) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 17 x 18.5 x 18mm. This bears the shape of what is depicted, with flat compartmented face and flat back, on which is a stalk handle ending in a pierced loop. The design shows a bird on the wing flying sideways. this comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2100-1800 B.C. It is a rare design and the piece is in quite good condition.'; (P-18) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 27 x 24.5 x 15.5mm. This has a flat face, flat back but thinning to the edges, and on the back there is a handle of inverted V-shape. The object has an irregular shape, being generally pear shaped with two extensions at the thinner end. The design consists of compartments, two bands of two, one band of three, and the two at the sides. This seal comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a little damaged at the edges, but the metal, which has been conserved, is in good condition. It is not clear whether the design is a representation of some natural thing, though the two side extensions could be seen as ears.'; (Q-43) 'Bronze Plaque, 27 x 19 x 9mm. This has the shape of an oval which goes to a point at one end. on the back there is a loop handle also of bronze. The design on the face consists of a trimmed figure '8' with a pointed oval in the smaller end, and a similar figure with dot in the middle in the larger end. The vacant spaces each side are filled with two and three dots respectively. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 1500-500 B.C. so far as one can date such an item accurately. it is a rare item and in good condition. Its function is not completely certain: an amulet or a kind of button?'; (T-500) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 23 x 23 x 8mm. This is a round disc with flat face and slightly convex back on which there is the stump of a stalk handle. The design is a pattern of raised lines within an outer rim. it consists of a single line dividing the circle into halves, with two parallel lines from it to the outer edge diagonally and the remaining space is filled with a crescent in both halves. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. It is well preserved, except that the handle is broken off.' 108 grams total, 18-27 mm (3/4-1 in.). Acquired in the late 1980s-early 1990s. Signo collection, property of a West London businessman. Collection numbers V-945, T-847, T-850, T-834, T-667, P-18, V-727, Q-43, C-11, T-500, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s. [10, No Reserve]
