Huanghuali, or "yellow flowering pear" wood, is a rare species of rosewood, mainly produced in Hainan province and once adorned imperial abodes. This elegant design is strikingly modern in its seeming simplicity. The backrest is high in the middle and low at both ends, constructed with concise and bright lines without redundant elements. It has a translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured patterns that delight the eye. This type of thrones were seats of honour and, when draped with sumptuous textiles, they gave their sitters a commanding presence.H860mm 1070 x 280mmm
