Five-part, palm wood, black and red lacquer. Flat, j? and ge slightly curved. Of detailed and delicately carved applications of mostly white and some pink-greenish shimmering mother-of-pearl, brilliant green and some amber, blooming peach branches and two large peaches, on the other side with the stiff fan of Sei?bo with horn reverse painted in colours, displaying delicate vines. H.8.4cm. Signed: Shibayama S?ichi on mother-of-pearl panel, cf. Wra. p. 235, just as inside the upper compartment. Condition A.
Provenance: -Inside old collection label no. 181, in addition a folded, differing description of a later owner, who reads the artist as Shibayama Munekazu, but rightly refers to the origin Tomkinson no. 236, the Tomkinson label is still on the bottom.
