MOKKOGATA WITH SLIGHTLY THICKENED RIM. Japan. 2nd half of the 19th century.
On slightly punched brown lacquer base in Hira- to Takamakie in gold and accentuated with Okibirame, a pair of wild geese flying in-between clouds across the banks of a lake covered in reeds, on verso another flock of geese below clouds, behind which the full moon looms up. H.8.3cm, diameter 5.2mm. Signed: Yamada Jokasai & Kakihan in matte gold lacquer. Condition A/B.
