Lacquer with predominantly blue and green pigments with white and cinnabar red on thinnly cut and polished alabaster. An elderly scholar with court rank standing under a wutong tree, accompanied by a female servant with a honorary fan, receives two gentlemen. One offers a libation or drinking vessel on a tray, the second is holding a pitcher. On the back of the plate a five-line poem about plum blossoms and bamboo. Signature and three seals unread.
The plate is cut thin, so that stronger light will screen the respective opposite side through. 32 x 32cm. Hardwood frame, damaged. Condition B.
