A Chinese Sino-Tibetan Gilt Bronze Buddha Figure of Mahakala, Qing Dynasty, 18th Century. Qing Dynasty, QianLong Reign Period (AD 1736 - 1796) and of the Period. The deity, shown standing atop the oval lotus base, fierce-headed figure holds a chopper in the primary hands, and left hand raised in front of chest in Karana-Mudra gesture, in which demons are expelled. The silk belt is draped over the figure body, and wraps around both shoulders downward to the pedestal. The deity wears jewelry, and a crown headdress backed by his flame-like hair. His beard and hair painted in reddish brown.
Mark on upper front pedestal, seven protruding script -KaiShu- characters enclosed within rectangular frame border, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing. another lettering inscription found on the pedestal's foot base, five script lettering characters, "Hundreds will petrified before the golden statue"
