A RARE CHINESE YAOZHOU / HENAN RUSSET SPLASHED BOWL, SONG DYNASTY (960-1279). A fine example with slightly rounded conical body on a short foot with everted rim decorated to the interior with russet and black glaze thinning at the rim. The exterior almost completely covered in a persimmon coloured glaze with neat circular patch over the 'chicken heart' base, leaving the foot unglazed. Probably of the period (960-1279). 12.7cm diam.
Ref: For a similar example described as Song-Jin dynasty, see Christie's 1 June 2016, Lot 3124 - Classic Chinese Art from the Sui to the Song Dynasties.
One slight shallow chip to underside of rim. Otherwise in good overall condition with no further signs of damage or repair.
