Il disegno è incollato su cartoncino con cornice dorata. Ottimo stato di conservazione. Splendido disegno con animata scena mitologica. Marcantonio Bassetti, nato a Verona, si formò nella bottega di Felice Brusasorci e dopo il 1605 si trasferì a Venezia ove completò la sua formazione e divenne amico di Palma il Giovane. Fra il 1615 e il 1620 è a Roma con i colleghi veronesi Turchi e Ottino. Secondo il Ridolfi aveva uno speciale dono per il disegno. Del suo soggiorno veneziano dice: “Vi si trattenne per qualche tempo copiando le pitture più eccellenti del Tintoretto, né vi fu giovine per avventura nel tempo suo, che più accuratamente le riportasse in disegni quali toccar soleva di biacca e nero a oglio sopra la carta. Di questa maniera molti ancora se ne veggono di sua inventione...” Nel 1616 Marcantonio scrive da Roma a Jacopo Palma comunicandogli di aver dato vita a una Accademia alla veneziana, "disegnando le attitudini con li pennelli e colori" e mostrando "che quando si disegna si dipinge ancora".

The drawing is pasted on cardboard with a gold frame. Good condition. Gorgeous drawing with animated mythological scene. Marcantonio Bassetti, born in Verona, was trained in the workshop of Felice Brusasorci and after 1605 he moved to Venice where he completed his training and became a friend of Palma il Giovane. Between 1615 and 1620 he was in Rome with his Veronese colleagues Turchi and Ottino. According to Ridolfi, he had a special gift for drawing. Of his stay in Venice he says: "He stayed there for some time, copying the most excellent paintings of Tintoretto, nor was there a young person in his time who would more accurately report them in drawings such as the touch of white and black oil on the paper. . In this way many still see some of his inventions ... "In 1616 Marcantonio wrote from Rome to Jacopo Palma informing him that he had given life to a Venetian Academy," drawing the attitudes with brushes and colors "and showing" that when you draw you paint again ".
