KUNISADA I, Utagawa. Yakusha-e. Kabuki Theater scene. Triptych. 1852 Trittico, ?ban tate-e (vertical). 350x735 mm. Firma: “Toyokuni ga”, in cartiglio arancione Toshidama. Editore: Shimizuya Naojir?. Sigilli dei Censori: Fuku, Muramatsu. Sigillo ovale con data zodiacale (Topo, 5). Tracce d’uso. Colori brillanti. Scena con tre personaggi dell’opera teatrale Jiraiya goketsu monogatari (Il racconto di Jiraiya il galante). Jiraiya goketsu è un racconto tradizionale giapponese che narra le vicende di Ogata Shuma Hiroyuki (尾形周馬弘行?), un ninja predone successivamente noto col nome di Jiraiya (児雷也? lett. Signs of wear. Bright colours. Scene with three characters from the play Jiraiya goketsu monogatari ("The Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant"). Jiraiya goketsu is a traditional Japanese tale that narrates the events of Ogata Shuma Hiroyuki a marauding ninja later known by the name Jiraiya (lett. "Young Thunder" or also "Who Comes on His Own"). The novel was published, between 1839 and 1868, in 43 installments written by different authors; Kunisada handled the illustrations.
