JADE & LAPIS-LAZULI HORSES ON LANDSCAPE

Chinese white jade carved in the model of two horses facing each in reclining position on its four legs, larger horse facing it left shoulder, while opposite smaller horse facing right shoulder. The horses sets against a open works carved lapis-lazuli rock work. Displayed upon a carved green pigmented hardwood base. The Nephrite stone have clean white iridescent with beautiful translucent, and moist milky appearance. The lapis lazuli shows attractive sapphire-blue color with sporadic silver and golden inclusions.
The horse (ma) is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac and symbolizes speed, power and perseverance.
The horse is usually depicted as the bearer of good things.
