PAIR OF LARGE QING DYNASTY GILT BRONZE AND CLOISONNE ELEPHANTS WITH DOUBLE GOURD VASES The Bronze forged to a modeled in the form of a caparisoned standing figure of an elephant, the head facing forward. The elephants carrying a double gourd octagonal vase atop the blanket with double ruyi emerged from the gallery opening. Two elements of Eight Buddhist Emblems hung on each ruyi head, one with chime before the swastika, and other with double fishes. The blanket and vase are wealthy decorated with colorful cloisonne against its turquoise blue enamel ground in utpala night lotus and gilt bronze rococo foliate. The elephant body decorated with white enamel filling the gilt bronze cloisonne works. The elephant is sometimes shown carrying a "treasure" vase (bao ping) on its back. Over all in EXCELLENT condition. Traced numerous tiny-holes of corrosions on enamel filling, No missing wires found on cloisonne works. With normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents, and trace of declined on gilt. Normal, consider ages and wear.
