VERY FINE, extraordinary Yuan Dynasty Chinese porcelain Meiping vase, sturdily potted in wide body, with swelled round shoulder, waisted gracefully down to flat base, with short neck leading to a banded rim and narrow opening. Delicately decorated around the exterior with variegate tones and shades of cobalt blue under glazed of official figures within terraced garden landscape, enclosed by ruyi shaped cartouche. The collar interspersed with phoenix borne amidst floral tendrils above the cresting water motif ribbon. The foot banded with upright lappets enclosing the suspending scrolling tendril. The glaze terminated slightly before the foot rim, revealed the pale-creme ground with burnt orange and darker spots in the firing with some white glazed spots. The glaze appearance on the blue painting resembled the texture of an orange peel "ju-pi" (chu-p'i) or a chicken skin. The porcelain vase is displayed upon a carved hardwood stand. Initiated conjugated mark between lower and upper body can be seen from uneven surface along the shoulder. Elegantly displayed upon a carved hardwood stand.
