Chinese Ming Dynasty porcelain sturdily potted in a baluster jar, has a tall feminine silhouette with broad shoulders and a body that either tapers to the foot or pinches at the waist then elegantly fans near its foot. The baluster jar is capped by a wooden dome lid, open-work carved in floral motif, resembled form of general's helmet, crowned with jade floral finial in crane within floral open-work motif. The finial supported with colorful semi-precious stones inlaid gilt silver filigree. The exterior decorated in various tone and shades cobalt blue under glazed of vigorous dragon borne amidst fumes and flames. Banded with cresting wavy waters ribbon on the neck. Borders of thin lines incised near the top, collar, shoulder, and foot rims and a clear blue color on a very white paste are characteristic features. The foot rim revealed the cut edges during the process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. The jar elegantly presented upon a carved hardwood stand with comforting motif.
The shape is uniformly proportioned. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese GuanYao porcelain Imperial wares , with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well drawn, clear, subtle, and distinct. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. Initiated conjugated marks between upper and lower parts of the vase during the kiln process can be seen from uneven surface below the shoulder. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, pooling on the base slightly veiling the mark. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.
