The wish-granted wand, commonly called ruyi scepter, carved from a single piece of nephrite jade, with slightly curved handle terminating the everted end. the ruyi head carved with quatrefoil flori-form petal shape, depicts figures in a pursuit of ceremonial offering beneath swaying tree branches set under half hiding moon behind rolling clouds. The rectangular central plaque depict a figure within a pavilion within highland scene. The square jade plaque on the rear end depicting waterside landscape. Both adorned with pale-green tassel. The ruyi scepters exquisitely displayed upon a bright purple and pale-blue silk covered stand. The jade displays pale-celadon in color with clean tone, and moist milky appearance. The ruyi, considered one of the Eight Treasures, was a scepter which represented power and authority. The ruyi was originally a short sword with a sword-guard used for self-defense or gesturing. There is some speculation that it may have evolved from a back scratcher. The head of the ruyi is similar to that of the Lingzhi or "fungus of immortality" and the lotus. The name "ruyi" is usually translated as "as you wish" or "in accordance with your desires". The ruyi now symbolizes good wishes and prosperity.
