MING WUCAI COVERED GINGER JAR

Chinese Ming WuCai Covered Jars. The baluster jar has a tall feminine silhouette with broad shoulders and a body that either tapers to the foot or pinches at the waist then elegantly fans near its foot. The baluster jar is capped by a relatively tall bell-shaped lid, crowned with a figure of an oval pinnacle. Highly decorated in WuCai style adorned with circumambulating scenes of children in various pursuits within playground. The collar adorned with four abundant inside cartouches with geometrical pattern band around it. The cover decorated with colorful eight flaming-tree panels encircled toward the finial.
The underside foot rim left unglazed, with pale-creme base spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The receded base left white underglaze.


Mark on base, Mark on the base shows six blue scripts -KaiShu- Character, enclosed by double blue rings, JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming.
