Han Dynasty Chinese Bronze Tripod "He" Kettle with hinged top and hinged animal-shaped spout, the handle with a square opening for a wood extension, the three feet finely cast with extended bronze animals possibly bears. Age related wear, dents and corrosion, one leg expertly restored. Length from handle to side 9 1/2 inches (24.2 cm.). Note: an almost identical Han tripod kettle without the animal legs was sold at Sotheby's New York, Lot 68, 13 Sept 2017 for $6,250. Provenance: an old American collection formed in Locust Valley, NY and inherited by consignor in the 1970's.
