A Chinese gilt-bronze of Ratnasambhava , one of the five meditation Buddhas’ dhyanibuddhas, portrayed seated in vajraparyankasana , the left in dhyana mudra an the right in varada mudra, wearing a pleated robe draped over the left shoulder with the undergarment gathered at the chest, the serene face with downcast eyes and a meditative expression, flanked by a pair of long pendulous ears cut with vertical slots, the head and domed ushnisha covered with tight curls, all supported on lotus base with apocryphal mark 大明永乐年制 (Made in the Yongle Reign of the Ming Dynasty), probably late Qing or first half of 20th century, 43cm high
Provenance: By family descent to the current owner whose father was a diplomat working in Hong Kong in the 1960's.
