A massive blue and white charger Of circular form, decorated in shades of underglaze blue, the central medallion painted with two five-clawed scaly dragons tumbling among scrolling clouds, pursuing a flaming pearl, all set within a double circle, the rim left plain, with a single blue circle marking the outer edge; on the reverse, the dragon motif is repeated around the rim, with two flaming pearls, the centre left white, with a six-character mark of Guangxu in underglaze blue. Period: Guangxu (1871?1908) mark and period. Diameter: 44.5 cm.
There is an almost identical dish of this design and massive size in the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Guangxu period (acquired in 1979, acquisition number 134.1979).
