Chinese 19th century Qing period porcelain footed censer. The antique censer has unusual hand painted enamel decoration. Unsigned. The lid of the two-part censer has extremely intricate fretwork accented by bands with greek key design. The foo dog finial has finely detailed ornamental fur, an open mouth showing teeth and tongue. The underside of lid has old incense residue and a small hole through which smoke will pass through the chamber of the foo dog body and exit the open mouth. The base of the censer is surprisingly heavy, weighing approximately 5 pounds. The porcelain has a burnished texture typically found in antique porcelain. The four panels are each decorated with floral scenes accented with a jade green border and black greek key design. The base rests on four imperial yellow, stipple decorated figural heads with pierced fangs and bulging eyes. In good condition, one leg has been glued back on at one time. Measures 9 inches high x 7.3 inches wide.
