Description: Late 19th/early 20th century, Bavaria (modern day southeast Germany). Of typical form, the roof with grapevine crests surmounted by a bird. The case is Roman numeral chapter ring beneath a pair of doors opening on the hour with the appearance of two painted and carved birds that strike the hour, all within a pierce carved grapevine frame and grape pendant apron. A fox mounted on the shelf stalking the birds. The double train brass movement marked "MILLER & CIE GERMANY"; the movement, driven by three iron weights cast as pine cones, striking on two gongs, the sounds assisted by three bellows. The clock is accompanied by three original weights and a stick pendulum with grape leaf fob. Movement appears complete. Bellows intact and birds in place. Lot accompanied by 3 original weights and pendulum. SIZE: 29" h x 20-1/2"w x 10" x. CONDITION: Brass movement in need of cleaning, but appears operational. Normal and expected abrasions, notably on case and leaf tips. Original surface age darkened with coffee color patina, good overall. 52895-14
