A very fine antique Chinese Ming Dynasty bronze tripod censer, cast in a slightly compressed globular form, swelled on the central body, tapered gracefully to the opening rim, raised on three conical legs, two loop handles everted from the gathering lip. The dome wooden lid decorated with open-work carving of three ruyi motif, radiating toward the jade flower bud finial. The metal patinated to a warm dark brown tone and some milky blue-green encrustation.
Mark on base, embossed six-teen script -KaiShu- characters mark, (XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming).
