Chinese Yuan Dynasty porcelain Meiping vase, Sturdily potted in a tall shaped vase with a narrow mouth on a small neck resting on high and broad shoulders, tapering off to a shallow ring foot. The underglazed bulbous body, decorated with hand-painting in variegate tones and shades cobalt blue underglaze, depicted vigorous dragon striding amidst flames. The collar with scrolling foliate beneath the auspicious pattern bands. The foot encircled with upturning lappets. A characteristic ‘heaped and piled effect’, the underglaze cobalt blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy and shading to the design. Initiated conjugated marks between upper and lower parts of the vase during the kiln process can be seen from uneven surface below the shoulder. The shape is uniformly proportioned. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese GuanYao porcelain Imperial wares , with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well drawn, clear, subtle, and distinct. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.
