17th C Chinese Tibetan Gilt bronze Bodhisattva Buddha figure of Ksitigarbha or DIZANG KING BUDDHA, (Sanskrit K?itigarbha, Dayuan Dizang Pusa). His name translated as "Earth Treasury", "Earth Store", "Earth Matrix", or "Earth Womb". This Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue depicted as a monk with a crown, wear elaborate floral-decorated robe and necklace, carrying a Buddhist staff. Seated cross-legged in full Lotus position upon a double lotus throne. Ksitigarbha is known for his vow to take responsibility for the instruction of all beings in the six worlds between the death of Gautama Buddha and the rise of Maitreya, as well as his vow not to achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied. Kshitigarbha is particularly associated with bringing help and comfort to those in the underworld realm of hell beings. The underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi. Extensive trace of gilt remain on surface.
