A Nepalese partly gilt copper alloy figure of Manjushri Finely cast, seated in vajraparyankasana on a double lotus pedestal with beaded edges, this emanation with one face and two hands, the right hand raised high and gripping the khadga, the left hand held at the heart, delicately holding a lotus stem rising to above the left shoulder, the blossoming flower topped by the Prajnaparamita sutra, wearing an ornate jewelled vajra crown, and adorned with the fine jewelry of a bodhisattva; earrings, necklaces, bracelets and anklets, the lower body tightly covered with a diaphanous dhoti secured by a beaded belt, the head slightly tilted downwards, with a serene expression and prominent ajna, the hair piled high into a topknot. Period: possibly 13th/14th century. Height: 15 cm.
