Catalogue note:
Pieter Pieterse was born on February 19, 1821 in Amsterdam and died there on June 30, 1903. After Bentvelt died in 1853, Pieterse probably delivered exclusively to retailer Bonebakker & Zoon. From July 1, 1855 Pieterse worked under the master’s mark of A Bonebakker & Zoon, which was also on his name. In addition to this master’s mark, he always struck off his own master’s mark. From 1855 he was in charge of the workshop of A Bonebakker & Zoon in the Korte Ledsedwarsstraat.
