A Wucai Rouleau ?drumstick? vase. The body rises from an outward flaring foot to form a slightly increasing tubular shape for the body. A straight narrow neck rises from an indented angular shoulder and terminates into a thick applied slightly extended rim. Four mythical animals painted in vibrant enamels continuously scroll around the body. A tiger stretches, a qilin regards a phoenix, a phoenix looks at a dragon and a snapping tortoise ignores them all. A lappet of lotus petals encircles the base. The shoulders are garlanded with bands of cresting water and peonies and clouds. The neck is decorated with 2 narrow bands of posts and several tall rouge-de-fer characters. A final green key-fret diaper completes the design. Kangxi reign mark, Qing Dynasty
