Set of two Chinese gilt bronze and cloisonne candle holders. The top interior tallow cup features four lotus with one at each quadrant. A gilt bronze band encircles the rim. The lotus is fully open and the center displays a pair of double gourds rendered vertically surrounded by stylized lotus and vine. The exterior mirrors the interior design and the underside is also a stylized lotus and vine. The gourds descend into a celestial vase shape decorated with stylized lotus and vine. This vase flows into a slender vertical column topped by a ruyi collar. The column?s length is covered with stylized lotus and vine. The upper portion shows a circlet of four open lotus: a white flower, a white flower with yellow petals, a navy double gourd and a navy double gourd. The interior of the large wax cup depicts eight lotus in assorted colors. The exterior matches the interior for color and design except that the Reign mark substitutes for the white lotus. The bottom portion of the column forms a bell-shaped base covered with the same design. The bottom interior of the bowl is duplicated on the underside of the closed bell and displays four lotus with four quadrants. Each quadrant features one lotus each with one opening in the center. Four character Reign mark incised into the exterior of the large wax cup Mark on the containers rims, a four embossed script characters enclosed within a gilt medallion, QianLong Reign Period.
