A large Qing Dynasty Chinese gilt bronze cloisonne vase featuring a mountain scene with deer in an old pine forest. A Greek key band encircles the rim and another band of ruyi enclosing stylized lotus is below. The remainder of the neck features an overall pattern of four vertical descending chains of a floral bat holding chains of Buddhist symbols in his mouth. The first chain holds a swastika, the second a stone chime with tow tassels, the next a double fish and the final one a set of double stone chimes each with three tassels attached. The claims are surrounded by an overall pattern of stylized lotus and vine with larger yellow and white lotus The lower shoulder displays a band of larger lotus and stylized lotus and vine. The next band of ruyi enclosing lotus signals the end of the neck and shoulders and beginning of the body. A ribbon of ruyi clouds float over two large cartouches of a mountain forest with old pine trees alternating with deer., mountains and rocks. Low multicolor vegetation provides an unobtrusive background. This continuous scene actually forms a band of its own which is repeated to signal a decrease in altitude as the elements get closer to the bottom of the cartouche. Both base and foot share the same band of stylized lotus and vine. All patterns are on a medium dark blue ground. The inside of the foot ring is also cloisonne and bears a gilt bronze rectangular reign mark of Qianlong. Qing Dynasty.
