A carved Zitan rectangular Chinese bachelor?s chest with cloisonne fittings. The lid features a five-toed dragon with six phoenixes around the sides. The corners and hardware are ruyi-shaped cloisonne. The hasp displays a bat holding a beaded chain to which a gold 10,000 year symbol is attached surrounded by multicolored clouds. The back plate has chamfered edges and depicts four bats surrounded by multicolored clouds and Lingzhi in shades of turquoise, green, pink and cobalt. A ruyi-shaped handle is attached to each side. The interior is stained and partially reglued & several nails are missing. Also, new retaining pins have been substituted. Qing Dynasty
