Nice dark blue cobalt with hand painted designs of grapes and vines set off this early 18th century sleeve vase.The flared open mouth porcelain straight sleeve vase is decorated in cobalt blue with designs of grapes, leaves, and tendrils on grape vines. The mouth has an iron red painted rim for strength. There are parallel line scrolls under the lip and above the foot ring.The white glaze has a bluish tint. The glaze is even with a nice thick smooth feel. The foot ring, which is unglazed and raised with a flange, looks cut and has a nice smooth feel. The underside of the base is glazed. The vase is hand thrown as you can see rings under the glaze on the inside, as well as chatter marks on the inside of the mouth. There is a deep line half way down on the inside of the vase that looks like the piece was luted or joined. Nothing shows or can be felt on the outside. The vase has a nice heft to it.There are no porcelain marks or labels.MEASUREMENTS 4a€ (10.2 cm) diameter at mouth. 8 ??a€ ( 21.6 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 6.1oz (625 g) CONDITION The only damage are six rim chips on the mouth on one side.
