A matched pair of white porcelain lamps with fine, detailed, intricate piercings and hand work. The lamps have six reticulated sides with central medallions of immortals. The central medallions on one shade are a mirror image of those on the other shade. These images are painted very precisely and show considerable detail, including on the faces and robe folds. The piercings are finely outlined in iron red and gold. Cherry blossoms, lotus, roses, and peonies surround the piercings. The tops have a crenelated edge. The six sided bases have piercings and are decorated with the same flowers as on the tops. The lamps and bases are glazed with a thick, smooth, shiny white glaze that has a slight blue cast. The bases of the tops, the tops of the lantern bases and their feet are all unglazed. Hexagonal metal discs fit the bases exactly. They each have a screw bolt for electrification of the lamps. These were probably a later addition.MEASUREMENTS 9 ??a€ (24.1 cm) tall x 4 ??a€ (12.1 cm) diameter. Weighs 3 lb 1.5 oz (1405 g)CONDITION There is grit on edges of the bases from the kiln.
