Colorful, old, intricate, hand-potted and hand painted Chinese ginger jar that shows much expertise and time intensive labor.The heavy round porcelain jar with a matching lid is decorate with four flame panels with Buddhist figures in a lotus position placed equidistance around the jar. A figure with the head of a chicken surrounded by scrolling is placed between each panel. Near the mouth is a key fret band and below that a ruyi band. The designs are painted in a riot of colors; red purple, blue, yellow, green, iron red, and turquoise, with black used to outline the designs. The base glaze is a very smooth, shiny crackle glaze. The painting is very well done with minute detail and mass paintings. The line quality is very good.The jar is hand potted. The jar has an unglazed foot and shows the pottera€?s wheel marks. The center base well is glazed. The unglazed underside of the lid has a number in red enamel which matches a number on the unglazed mouth rim in the same color enamel.The Yongzheng emperora€?s reign mark in iron red is painted on the base well.
