A lovely hand potted and hand painted cylinder bowl with well painted intricate paintings of immortals riding fantastic beasts. The background glaze color is a nice shiny turquoise.A heavy deep porcelain cylinder shaped bowl that is hand potted showing the pottera€?s wheel marks under the base glaze. The porcelain bowl has been painted in iron red, brown, purple, rose, yellow, green, blue, and gold over glaze enamels. Black has been used to accent and outline. The rim has a ring of gilt. The ground is a nice even turquoise. The designs are well positioned with a parade of immortals riding fantastic beasts. One immortal has a western top hat. This along with the purple glaze puts the piece later than the Jiaqing reign. There are textures and recessed areas in the paintings. For example, the painting of the flag feels shallow compared to the background. The painting is very expert with excellent line quality. There is a shallow rounded foot that is glazed. The base is glazed in the turquoise color. There is a reign mark painted in iron red in Zhuanshu script on the base of the bowl for the Jiaqing emperor. CHINA has been etched on the base near the reign mark.MEASUREMENTS 6 ??a€ (17.1 cm) diameter x 4a€ (10.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 10.2 oz (745 g)CONDITION There are no cracks, chips or breaks.
