The mouth opening curves down to a rounded shoulder and then rounds out and then tapers to a flared smaller foot. The main frontal body painting is of a scholara€?s vase filled with peonies and lotus, symbols of purity, longevity and happiness. In the background there books and a vase on a low table and a basket with peaches. The designs are expertly rendered with very fine line quality. They are painted in rose, blue, yellow, light green, blue green, and red. Black is used to outline and define the designs. Matching floral band are under the mouth rim and above the foot. The indented foot ring is unglazed but the base is glazed.Most of the glazes feel raised, shiny, and smooth, except the red glaze, which feels dry. The body is very white and is translucent when backlit. It is hand thrown and hand painted, and you can see the pottera€?s wheel marks under the base glaze.There is the word CHINA in red glaze on the base.MEASUREMENTS 9 3/8a€ (23.8 cm) tall x 4 a€?
