A heavy well used antique bronze censer with the mark of reverence for the Xuande emperor.A symbolic lotus shaped circular bronze censer with loop handles that has been heavily used over the ages. The interior is black from burning incense or coals. The censor was over cleaned many years ago, and so has a gold like bronze. The metal is starting to patina again as there is darker spotting. The feel of the metal is smooth, and worn. The censer rests on three round peg feet and is very heavy.There is a molded reign mark of the Xuande emperor on the center of the base. The mark is deep and well molded.PROVENANCE: This censer was acquired in China and brought to the US over 70 years ago.MEASUREMENTS 5 ??a€ (14.0 cm) diameter x 3 ??a€ (8.9 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 4.6 oz (585 g) CONDITIONThere is a crack in one of the handles but it doesna€?t seem to be effecting the censera€?s integrity. There are no other breaks, chips, dents or cracks.
