Colorful dimpled glass insert in this elaborate Victorian fantasy pickle castor. Over the top for the Victorian table.Metal frame with circular base. The handle has an elaborate design at the top of flowers and Eastlake circles. There are two bud like appendages on either side of the top frame to hold the chicken foot tongs. The circular base has a top rim that is tooled with an elaborate floral like dot and line design. The base is tiered to the insert. The glass is a hand blown cylinder of a cranberry colored glass with a dimpled pattern and ground rim. There are a few bubbles and a white spot impurity in the glass. The jar was blown into a mold. The bottom of the glass insert has a pattern in the base and a polished pontil mark, and is not perfectly level. The metal base holds the glass cylinder snugly. The silver plate lid fits the glass insert perfectly, as well. It has an elaborate florid finial and an embossed ring band above the lip.There is the mark stamped on the base.
