What a beautiful well designed and painted tea bowl! I just love the ornate peacock design.Thinly potted porcelain tea bowl is hand painted with a delicate design of peacocks on rocks with a rose bush, a cherry tree, an orchid and chrysanthemums. Each of these designs have symbolism. A butterfly flies at the back of the bowl. The design has nice symmetry and an interesting design. The painting is crisp, fine line quality, and accurate using blue, green, red, green, yellow, violet, white, and yellow over glaze enamels. Black has been used to outline and for definition. The wings have a very nice gradation and rainbow of colors. The rim and foot ring are edged with gilding. The lid has a matching peacock on a tree with the same enamel color scheme. The bowl has raised foot ring with an unglazed foot but glazed base. The thinly-potted porcelain is white and shows a nice translucency. The glaze is smooth with some tiny glaze dimples. The lid has a raised lid ring with an unglazed edge to the rim. There are red porcelain marks in zhuanshu script with the marks of Qianlong on the base of both the lid and bowl.MEASUREMENTS Bowl: 4a€ (10.2 cm) diameter x 2 3/8a€ (6.0 cm) tall. Lid: 3 ??a€ (9.5 cm) diameter x 1 ??a€ (3.2 cm) tall. With the lid the set is 3 ??a€ (8.9 cm) tall and weighs 6 oz (170 g)CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are two small kiln flaws on the rim with dimples in the glaze and small black spots on the inside of the lid and bowl. They are very small and not visible except up close.A small work of art that could have been painted on a scroll but was painted on the difficult medium of porcelain instead.Item ID: Por-952
